The role cemented her as an up and coming leading lady in film. "I was nervous to do The Notebook because it was this epic romance that people really seemed to take to. But I am so glad that I did it. It opened up many doors for me - both professionally and personally." In 2005, Amelia appeared in the film adaption of Brokeback Mountain in a supporting role. The media perception of Amelia is actually quite positive (for the most part.) Due to her need to appear perfect and her tendency to surround herself with only a few closest friends, Amelia has been able to hide some of her less than pleasant qualities. She's not necessarily America's Sweetheart (that would require appearing down-to-earth) but she is the actress with the perfect marriage, two beautiful children, and is never seen out without looking immaculate. She hides from controversy because she is a believer that controversy will only take away opportunities. She is always careful as to whom she socializes with (no need to start an unnecessary rumor) and makes sure that she is photographed spending time with her kids to appear motherly and involved. Some people are able to pick up on the Stepford wife vibe that she occassionally gives off but she has a lot of people fooled...particularly the American media. In reality, Amelia can be very difficult due to her high expectations of herself and those around her. She is, as her former personal assistant will tell others, "an anal retentive ice princess who needs everything to be perfect otherwise there will be blood."
